Leaflets, Flyers & Posters

Most of what we print is made to be handed out, posted through a door or stuck in a window — takeaway menus, opening offers, event flyers, posters for the fascia. It is the cheapest advertising you will ever buy, as long as the print is good enough that nobody bins it on sight.

What you get

Leaflets & Posters, done properly

Short runs go digital, long runs go litho, and we will tell you which side of that line your quantity falls rather than quoting one and charging for the other. Folded menus, stapled booklets, gloss or silk, and uncoated stock when people need to write on it. Posters run up to full large format for window and light box work. If you have no artwork, our designers will set it — the same team that draws the signs, so the leaflet and the fascia end up looking related.

  • 500 or 50,000 — digital or litho, whichever suits the run
  • Folded menus, stapled booklets, flat flyers and posters
  • Designed in-house if you have nothing print-ready
  • Delivered to you, or straight to your distributor
Before you order

What should you know before ordering leaflets, flyers & posters?

Should your leaflets be printed digitally or litho?

Digital for short runs, litho for long ones. Digital print has almost no set-up, so it suits small quantities and jobs that change often. Litho takes longer to set up but costs less per copy once it is running, so it wins on big runs. BD Signs will tell you which side of that line your quantity falls on before you order, not after the invoice arrives.

Gloss, silk or uncoated paper?

Choose the paper for what happens to the leaflet next. Gloss makes food photography look its best. Silk is smoother and easier to read under shop lights. Uncoated is the one people can write on, so it suits order forms, vouchers and appointment cards. Tell BD Signs what the leaflet has to do and we will recommend the stock.

Is your artwork ready to print?

It is if you have a PDF at the finished size, with bleed and full-resolution images. Bleed is the extra background — usually 3mm — that runs past the trim line, so no white edge shows after cutting. If your file is not ready, the BD Signs design team will set it. They are the same people who draw the signs, so the leaflet and the fascia end up looking related.

How it is made

How does BD Signs make leaflets, flyers & posters?

Designed in-house, manufactured in our own factory, fitted by our own teams. 30 years in the industry.

  1. Step 1

    Artwork and proof

Send a print-ready PDF, or let our designers set the job from your logo, copy and photos. A proof comes back for you to check the prices, phone number and spelling before anything is printed.

  2. Step 2

    Digital or litho

Short runs go digital and long runs go litho, whichever gives the better cost per copy for your quantity. Posters and window prints go through large-format print, up to light box size.

  3. Step 3

    Finishing

Leaflets are trimmed flat, folded into menus or stapled into booklets. The stock — gloss, silk or uncoated — is chosen before printing, so the finish suits what the leaflet has to survive.

  4. Step 4

    Delivery

The job is boxed and delivered to your door, or sent straight to your distributor, so a door-drop campaign goes out without the boxes passing through your shop first.

Side by side

Is digital or litho print right for your run?

Both give a sharp, professional result. The difference is set-up and how the cost per copy behaves as the quantity grows.

Compare Digital print Litho print
Best for Short runs, test mailings and versions for different areas Long runs of the same leaflet or menu
Set-up Very little — prints straight from the file Plates and press set-up before the first copy
Cost per copy Stays much the same whatever the quantity Falls as the quantity rises
Changing the artwork Easy between runs New plates for each change
Safety and standards

Do you need permission to hand out leaflets?

Sometimes. Under Schedule 3A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a council can designate areas — often town centre streets — where handing out free printed matter needs its consent. Handing out leaflets there without consent is an offence, and so is arranging for someone else to do it. Putting leaflets through letterboxes or inside a building does not count as distribution under the Schedule, and charity, political and religious material is exempt.

Councils set their own designated areas and consent conditions, so check with yours before a street team goes out. BD Signs prints the leaflets; the consent is between you and the council.

Leaflets, Flyers & Posters FAQ

What do people ask about leaflets, flyers & posters?

Can you design my takeaway menu?

Yes. The BD Signs studio sets takeaway menus from your price list, logo and photos. The same team designs signs and menu boards, so the menu through the letterbox matches the one above the counter. It is worth putting your best-margin dishes where the eye lands first rather than halfway down a column — that is where a menu starts earning back what it cost.

How large can you print a poster?

Up to large format, which covers full window posters and light box prints. We print smaller posters for counters, noticeboards and clip frames too. BD Signs prints posters in your brand colours, so a window promotion sits comfortably under the fascia instead of clashing with it. Give us the frame or window size and we will print to it.

Do you print branded promotional items too?

Yes. Alongside leaflets and posters, BD Signs supplies branded promotional items such as mugs, pens, umbrellas and water bottles, printed with your logo and colours. They suit openings, events and thank-you gifts for regular customers. Because the artwork comes from the same studio as your print, the giveaways match the leaflet and the shop front.
